For me what raises the original 1964 broadway cast recording of fiddler on the roof to the indispensable level is 1 the superb vividly captured orchestral playing with magnificent clarinet trills in the wedding bottle dance which like the rumor was a welcome addition to the cd transfer from the original lp and an evocative accordion in sunrise sunset and 2 the beautifully sung hodel of julia migenes later to have a major operatic career.
